Net Metering in Rajasthan: JVVNL, AVVNL & JDVVNL Process Explained
Net metering allows you to sell surplus solar power back to the grid. Here is the complete step-by-step process for Rajasthan DISCOMs — JVVNL, AVVNL, and JDVVNL.
Net metering is a billing mechanism that credits solar panel owners for the excess electricity they add to the grid. In Rajasthan, all three DISCOMs — JVVNL (Jaipur), AVVNL (Ajmer), and JDVVNL (Jodhpur) — support net metering for rooftop solar systems.
How Net Metering Works
A bidirectional meter is installed at your property that measures:
- Import: Electricity drawn from the grid (when solar is insufficient)
- Export: Surplus solar power sent to the grid
At the end of the billing cycle, you pay only for net units consumed (Import - Export). Surplus credits can be carried forward to the next billing cycle.
Net Metering Process in Rajasthan
- Application: Submit net metering application to your DISCOM (online or at the sub-division office)
- Technical Feasibility: DISCOM assesses if net metering is technically feasible for your connection
- Agreement Signing: Sign the net metering agreement with the DISCOM
- Meter Installation: DISCOM installs the bidirectional meter (at your cost)
- Grid Synchronization: System is connected and synchronized with the grid
- Commissioning: System goes live — you start earning credits
Important Points
- Net metering is available for systems up to 500 kW capacity
- Residential systems up to 10 kW are eligible for PM Surya Ghar subsidy
- The entire process typically takes 30–60 days
- Suryanex Solar handles the complete application process on your behalf
