What is PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana?

Launched in February 2024, the scheme aims to install rooftop solar systems in 1 crore households across India. Under the scheme, residential consumers receive free electricity up to 300 units per month through solar generation.

Subsidy Structure

• Up to 2 kW: ₹30,000 per kW (maximum ₹60,000)
• 2 kW to 3 kW: ₹18,000 per kW for the additional capacity
• Above 3 kW: Flat subsidy of ₹78,000 (no additional subsidy beyond 3 kW)

Eligibility Criteria

• Indian residential consumer with a valid electricity connection
• Must own the property where the solar system is to be installed
• Property must not already have a solar system installed
• Must apply through the official PM Surya Ghar portal

How to Apply

1. Register on the PM Surya Ghar portal (pmsuryaghar.gov.in)
2. Select your DISCOM (JVVNL, AVVNL, or JDVVNL in Rajasthan)
3. Submit your electricity consumer number
4. Get feasibility approval from your DISCOM
